Nigerians Who Are Making A Difference

I have met a number of Nigerians who are changing the face of Nigeria as a nation and of Africa as a continent and I just feel you should meet them. There are three (3) of them featured in this post; please feel free to suggest others that can be included on the list:

Abiodun Fijabi (

Abiodun Fijabi presides over Life Africa. Before founding Life Africa in 1994, he was a Corporate Executive in two multinational corporations in Nigeria. He had been a National
Director of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship and the First Vice President of the International Christian Chamber of Commerce, Nigeria.
Abiodun's academic background & experience includes a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics and a Master's degree in Production Engineering and Management. During his University studies he received a University scholarship and awards for outstanding academic performance. Also, in 1993 he received from JAYCEE International the "Outstanding Young Person's Award".
Mr. Fijabi teaches "Communication and Research Methodology" at the prestigious Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration as a visiting lecturer.
Abiodun was a Graduate of Haggai Institute in 1998 and became a faculty member in 2002. He is a facilitator in "Communicating Effectively for Evangelizing" and "Goal Setting".
Through Transformation Institute, a ministry of Life Africa, Mr. Fijabi has conducted leadership and communications seminar nein four continents of the world.
He is a public affairs commentator, an ebullient speaker, a disciplined scholar and a prolific writer.

Gbenga Sesan is a social entrepreneur and Information Society researcher, and he was Nigeria's first Information Technology Youth Ambassador. He is quick to express passionate belief in the potentials that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) hold for developing economies, and has expressed this at various local, national, regional and international fora – through his speaking opportunities in twenty-two countries. His consulting experience includes assignments completed for numerous institutions, including Harvard University, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Res Publica, International Telecommunications Union and Computer Aid International.
‘Gbenga was the Vice Chair of United Nations Economic Commission for Africa’s African Technical Advisory Committee, voluntary adviser to numerous youth-led nonprofit projects and pioneer Program Manager of the Lagos Digital Village (a Lagos State/Microsoft/Junior Achievement of Nigeria project). He was appointed (in 2006) as the youngest member of the Nigerian Presidential Task Force on the Restructuring of the Nigerian Information Technology and Telecommunications sectors. He is presently promoting and supporting pan-African youth-led social entrepreneurship as Executive Director of Paradigm Initiative Nigeria. 'Gbenga, a non-Executive Director at HiiT, Partner at Generis Solutions and Volunteer with the African Youth ICT4D Network, is an author, guest columnist, regular feature on some of Nigeria’s television shows and Vice President of the Alliance of Change Empowerment Speakers (ACES).
In recognition of his dynamic efforts, ‘Gbenga was a recipient of the 2007 The Future Youth Advocacy award, 2006 International Telecommunications Union YES Scholarship award, 2006 The Future Best Use of Technology award, 2005 Stockholm Challenge Champion honor, 2004 NiPRO Excellence in Information Technology award, 2003 JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) in Nigeria award, 2002 JCI Ten Outstanding Great Ife Alumni (TOGA) award, 2002 Journalists’ Frontier of Technology in Nigeria award, and the 2001 International Telecommunication Union African Youth Fellowship award. He has also been profiled as one of the 35 Icons of ICT in Nigeria.

Fela Durotoye is a Computer Scientist and an Economist who has acquired financial and management consulting experience with VENTURES & TRUSTS LIMITED, the sole investment consultants in Nigeria to the European Investment Bank. As a venture capital and project finance analyst, he was involved in the set up and management of several venture capital projects including Academy Press Business Forms Limited and Best Oils Limited.
Fela has a Masters degree in Business Administration during which he understudied the Management of Change in Complex Organisations. He brought his experience to bear in the area of Business Process Re-engineering for some major TQM implementation projects in PHILLIPS CONSULTING where he excelled to head the Customer Service Group.
As Head of the Customer Service Group, Fela designed and facilitated several customer service and personal mastery training programmes and retreats. Based on his unconventional approach to facilitating, Fela Durotoye has become a “household” name in ADC Airline, Diamondbank, Chartered Bank, NAL Bank, Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria where he has managed streams of Customer Service Management training programmes and retreat on behalf of Phillips Consulting for Functional Managers .
Fela co-led the Diagnostic Review Team on the Culture Change programme in First Bank Nigeria plc. He later led the Diagnostic Review Team on the on-going Bank Transformation programme in Inland Bank plc during which he was also given the sole responsibility of preparing the Organisation Diagnostic Report on Inland Bank.
Mr. Durotoye was responsible for the programme design and logistic management for the first-ever series of Management Retreats facilitated by Phillips Consulting for the Central Bank of Nigeria.
