Seven Truths About Your Strength

What is a strength?
A strength is defined as consistent, near-perfect performance in an activity. For something to qualify to be called a strength, you must be able to do it consistently and excel in it practically all the time. There must be a degree of practicability to it.
Here are seven points to help you understand how strengths work:

Strengths start first in your heart
When you study the lives of great achievers, you will find
that long before they achieved greatness in the eyes of the world, they had achieved it in their hearts over and over again. It’s called yearnings. It is the yearnings of the heart that makes champions push past insurmountable obstacles.

Your strength will bring you satisfaction
Examine everyone who has achieved excellence and longevity in their field of endeavour, you will find a common denominator – satisfaction. They enjoy what they do. Satisfaction is the natural outcome of a strength. The satisfaction you derive from an activity becomes the energy that drives you to continue to do it. If you never derive satisfaction from doing something, it probably isn’t your strength. Your strength will bring you satisfaction.

Strengths are characterized by rapid learning
If you catch on to something very quickly, it is likely to be your strength. Have you ever found yourself doing something for the first time and feeling like you’ve always known how to do it? In reality, at some level, you have. You have been wired that way. Slow-learning is evidence of non-strength. The first time you tried to drive a car, you were acutely conscious of every step of the process – you pay close attention to every manoeuvre you made. And that’s understandable; it’s your first time. But if after several years of driving, you still focus intensely on every step, then there’s cause for concern.

Strengths develop best when they are connected to a purpose
You cannot be truly effective in life until you embrace your personal mission. Mission is what gives you your reason for being. It is what gives you the impetus to get back up gain each time life knocks you down. Mission is what gives you the audacity to stare adversity in the face and press on, in spite of it.
If you truly want to develop your strengths, you need to embrace a mission. When you do not have a mission, your life is reduced to being driven by materialistic goals and hollow victories.

Strengths develop best in an atmosphere of positive relationship
You are where you are in life today because of people: whether positive or negative. President Goodluck Jonathan (GEJ) is in Aso Rock because of people while those behind prison bars are there because of people. We are weak or strong because of the people in our lives. The stronger your positive relationships, the more rapidly your strengths will develop. So cherish those relationships, nurture them, protect them, and respect them. In short, manage those relationships well, because they are what will take you to the next level.

Strengths Develop Best When They are Fired by Expectation
Anyone who ever achieved something great did so because someone expected them to. People perform better n their endeavours because they are thinking of someone who believes in them and expects them to succeed. It is true n academics, in the arts, in sports, in business and even in Christian ministry.

Strengths Develop Best When They are Celebrated
Everyone loves to be celebrated. Everybody loves to hear their name called. Even people who claim not to want any attention never object when you sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to them. Everybody loves to be recognized.
Don’t wait for people to celebrate you – learn to celebrate yourself.
In conclusion, God has placed many beautiful gifts within you. If y6ou could truly live up to your potential, you would really amaze yourself. There are strengths locked up within you and the world is waiting for them.
